Our Safety Framework
A safe university environment is the foundation of academic success and personal growth. Our comprehensive safety framework at the University of Peradeniya combines physical security, policy-driven protection, and compassionate support.
Campus Patrols
Dedicated security personnel conduct regular 24/7 patrols across faculty premises, libraries, and open areas. They are trained in quick response and first-aid to handle any on-campus situations.

Residential Protection
Security at our 23 hostels is prioritized with visitor logging systems and perimeter monitoring. Female hostels are staffed with dedicated wardens and sub-wardens available overnight.

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention
We are committed to maintaining a campus free from all forms of sexual and gender-based violence. We provide support, advocacy, and education to prevent these incidents and assist those who have been affected.
Our Support Includes:

- Awareness programs and workshops on consent and respect.
- Legal and medical referral services.
- Advocacy for policy changes to enhance safety.
How to Report an Incident
If you encounter a security threat or witness any suspicious activity, please follow these steps:
- Immediate Danger: Call the emergency hotline at +94 77 536 5768 right away.
- Identity Protection: You may choose to report anonymously if you wish.
- Visit SSS & WS: Come to our office during working hours for one-on-one consultation with the Director or Assistant Registrar.
- Written Record: Send a detailed email to our secure address for non-emergency reports.
